Frequently Asked Questions
How often are exchange rates updated?
Exchange rates are fetched from the open.er-api.com API, which updates daily with the previous business day's interbank closing rates. For real-time forex trading rates, use a dedicated financial platform — this tool is best suited for travel planning, invoice calculation, and general reference.
Why are the rates different from what my bank charges?
This converter shows mid-market (interbank) rates — the midpoint between buy and sell rates, which is what banks charge each other. When you exchange money at a bank, credit card company, or exchange bureau, they add a markup of typically 1–5% above the interbank rate. Use this to see the "true" rate, then compare against what your provider charges.
What is the strongest currency in the world?
As of 2024–2025, the Kuwaiti Dinar (KWD) is the highest-valued currency — 1 KWD ≈ $3.26 USD. The Bahraini Dinar (BHD) and Omani Rial (OMR) rank second and third. Note that high face value doesn't mean the currency is "stronger" in purchasing power terms — it's largely a result of how many units exist in circulation.
Which currencies are supported?
This converter supports 45+ major world currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CNY, AUD, CAD, CHF, INR, SGD, HKD, NZD, MXN, BRL, ZAR, and more — covering all major economies across Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Africa.
