Barcode Generator

Generate barcodes in multiple formats.

Frequently Asked Questions

What barcode formats are supported?

The generator supports the most common formats: Code 128 (alphanumeric, widely used in logistics), EAN-13 and EAN-8 (retail products, international), UPC-A and UPC-E (US/Canada retail), Code 39 (industrial, government), ITF-14 (cartons and shipping), and Codabar (libraries, blood banks). Each format has specific character and length requirements.

Which barcode format should I use?

For retail products: EAN-13 (international) or UPC-A (North America). For shipping labels and logistics: Code 128 (supports all ASCII characters). For internal inventory: Code 39 or Code 128. For book ISBNs: EAN-13 with 978/979 prefix. Choose based on your industry standards and scanner compatibility.

Can I include text below the barcode?

Yes — by default, the encoded data is displayed as human-readable text below the barcode. You can toggle this off for a cleaner look or customize the font size. Human-readable text serves as a backup when barcode scanning fails and is required by most retail and logistics standards.

What size should the barcode be for printing?

For reliable scanning, Code 128 should be at least 1 inch (25mm) wide. EAN-13 and UPC-A have standard sizes defined by GS1: the nominal size is 37.29mm x 26.26mm. The tool allows custom sizing — always test print a sample and scan it before producing large quantities.

Can I download the barcode for printing?

Yes — download as SVG (vector format, recommended for print — scales to any size without quality loss) or PNG at high resolution. SVG barcodes can be imported into Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, or any print layout software. Always verify the barcode scans correctly after printing.
