Frequently Asked Questions

How is exact age calculated?

Age is calculated by subtracting your birth date from today's date (or any target date), accounting for different month lengths and leap years. For example, someone born on March 15, 2000 is older on March 16 than on March 15 — the calculator counts completed years, then remaining months, then remaining days.

How many days old am I?

Enter your date of birth in the calculator to get your exact age in days. A rough estimate: age in years × 365.25 (the .25 accounts for leap years). A 30-year-old is approximately 10,957 days old.

How do I calculate someone's age on a specific future date?

Change the "as of" date to the future date you want. This is useful for birthday planning, eligibility checks (e.g. will this person be 18 by a certain date?), or retirement planning.

What year were you born if you are a certain age?

Subtract your age from the current year. Born at any point earlier in the year: born in current year minus age. Born later in the year (birthday not yet reached this year): born in current year minus age minus 1. The calculator handles this precisely when you enter your full birth date.
